Overview and history

Since 2013, CiTOS has been building expertise in the use of flow chemistry at the University of Liege, Belgium. Founded by Dr. Jean-Christophe Monbaliu (CV), CiTOS has gained worldwide reputation as a leading lab in the field of flow chemistry. The more than 65 publications and patents related to flow chemistry that have been produced over the years demonstrate the robust experience in the field.

CiTOS was conceived with the idea of developing knowledge that could be applicable beyond the research laboratory environment. The first research contracts with the industry began already in 2015 and have continued since. Different industrial sectors, including pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, biobased materials or inorganic materials, among others, have been supported in their adoption of flow to address their needs.

To provide greater support to industrial clients, CiTOS has been serving as a Corning Qualified Laboratory since 2017. This partnership has made a series of Corning Advanced Flow Reactors available in our laboratories, which have been used test the scalability of the novel processes produced through our research, as well as to carry out tests for industrial partners.

The year 2022 marked a turning point for CiTOS, with the creation of the FloW4all service platform. With the support of the Wallonia government, FloW4all has become the first platform of excellence providing service to academic and industrial partners for the incorporation of flow chemistry. The funding has significantly expanded our offering with the incorporation of Ehrfled and Vapourtech reactors, as well equipment for dispensing and analytical needs. The FloW4all service platform provides a professional interphase for industrial partners and aims to increase the scope collaborations.

Our
philosophy

We believe that the unique solutions that flow chemistry can provide to chemical challenges are go far beyond the lab scale and the academic research environment. One of our greatest passions is to use our vast experience in flow chemistry to support the implementation of this technology in the industrial world.

Our solutions are therefore always flexible, with the simple goal of expanding the use of flow chemistry to transform the industry.

The collaboration models in our services section have proven to be successful in moving projects forward. However, we pride ourselves in remaining flexible and adapting the form of our collaboration to ensure the success of our projects.
